Zen Nihon Karate-do Renmei (All Japan Karate Federation)was founded. (1st President: Shoshin Nagamine)



Tatsuhiro Oshiro won the Akutagawa Prize.

1st All Japan Karate Championship Tournament was held (At Nihon Budo-Kan; Okinawan karate masters were invited and gave Enbu Exihibition)

Monuments of Kanryo Higaonna and Chojun Miyagi were erected.
