The Umbrella Academy is a superhero action series that has become an international sensation and one of the top watched occult dramas on Netflix. Beloved actor Elliot Page, formerly Ellen Page, has a star role showcasing amazing powers that can and will end the world. But there is also Karate!
Spoilers are coming, so if you have yet to watch Season 3 of the Umbrella academy (or at least the first 3 episodes) please avert your eyes!
Ok, now that you've quickly watched Season 3 and have returned let's talk about something amazing that happend in episode 3. Diego is given charge of his alleged son who seems to be somewhat of a delinquent. In Hotel Obsidian the group of motley heroes is having an intense discussion and in the background we can see Diego's son spinning a pool stick acting like it's a bo. There is actually a point in which he delivers a shomen uchi, leading me to believe he has slightly trained in Kobudo.
Diego yells at him and says to stop what he is doing and the kid responds "Karate!". Later followed by, "Mom told me I need to practice". Several scenes later he performs a crane kick and yells "Cobra Kai!". It was truly an Ode to Karate Kid and the Netflix Cobra Kai Series, and fans like myself are going to love the inclusion.
There's also training montages and scenes in Karate Gi, as well a Dojo, and plenty of real Karate fight choreography within season 3.
